Week of September 13 - mobilization and installation of turbidity curtains on northern islands

Week of September 20 - installation of mangrove toe protection on northern islands. These are lower profile barriers meant to be close to mangrove roots. They will add extra protection and help retain fill when new mangroves are planted. Mangroves will grow over them. The pilings were also installed for the signage.

Week of September 27 - start of breakwater installation near northern island. King tides presented challenges, but the contractors persevered. The breakwaters will be 15-25+ feet away from toe protection, allowing kayaks, swimmers, and manatees to pass through during high tides.

Week of October 4 - more breakwater installation and regular inspections from engineers.
